Public Complaints

The National Police Commission is entrusted with powers to entertain and investigate public complaints against Police Officers or the Police Force. The public can make their complaints on grievances against Police Officers or the Police Force resulting from any act or omission.

A complaint against the police could be lodged on violation of human rights, torture, inhuman or degrading treatment, or injury, death in police custody, fabrication of cases and making false reports to court, interference, intimidation and threat, gross abuse of power, neglect of duties, illegal arrest and detention, refusal, failure, delay to record a statement, failure to carryout duties, partiality, use of abusive words and inaction etc.

Developed by ICT Unit of National Police Commission, in colaboration with Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka.
