Mr. S.C.S. Fernando (Chairman of the National Police Commission)

Mr. Chandra Fernando who has been appointed as the Chairman of the present Commission was the 29th Inspector General of Police in Sri Lanka. He was educated at St Peter's College, and at Thurstan College, Colombo, and graduated from Vidyodaya University with a BA Degree in Modern History. He has also obtained an LLB degree from the Open University of Sri Lanka. He joined the Ceylon Police Force as an Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1971. In February 1991, Mr. Fernando was promoted to Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and served as 29th Inspector-General of Police from October 2004 to October 2006.
After having retired from the Police Service, he served as Presidential Advisor to President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
In December 2020, He has been appointed as the Chairman of the National Police Commission.

Mr. Sirisena Liyanagama (Member of the National Police Commission)

He obtained a BA degree from the University of Colombo and an L.L.B. degree from the Open University of Sri Lanka and he took oaths as an Attorney-At-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 2004. He obtained his Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Colombo. In addition, he obtained the Postgraduate Diploma in Provincial Administration from the Postgraduate Institute of Sri Jayawardanapura University. He started his career as an Officer of Sri Lanka Administrative Service in which he served Assistant Government Agent of Buttala and Homagama Divisions. He served as the Deputy Director of Ministry of Finance and Planning, Director Planning of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, the Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and also acted as the Secretary to the Chief Government Whip of Parliament. Later he served as the Secretary of the Ministry of Sports and Public Recreation and the Ministry of Export Development and International Trade.
He has engaged in educational activities on Parliamentary affairs of countries such as the United Kingdom, United State of America, India, Malaysia, Japan, New Zealand, and Italy. In addition, He has attended different International Conferences and Conventions in countries such as China, Korea, France, Portugal, Canada, Switzerland, Japan, the U.S.A., Indonesia, Thailand, South Africa. Currently, he is serving as an Adviser of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Mr. A.S.P.S.P. Sanjeewa (Member of the National Police Commission)

Mr. Sanjeewa has obtained his Bacheller of Arts degree from University of Kelaniya and L.L.B. degree from the Open University of Sri Lanka. He has obtained his Master’s degree from the University of Sri Jayawardanapura and Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Colombo and Postgraduate Diploma in International Relations from Bandaranayake Centre for International Studies.
He is a Senior Lecturer of Sociology in the University of Kelaniya and a member of the Board of Directors of Lady Lohore Loan Fund of which is governed by the Ministry of Finance.
He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Consumer Affairs Authority of Sri Lanka and also served as a visiting ecotecture of the Open University of Sri Lanka and Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka.

Mr. N.S.M. Samsudeen (Member of the National Police Commission)

Mr. Samsudeen, has been working as an Attorney-at-Law since 1982 and has gained 38-years of experience in the Provincial Civil High Court and has 38 years of experience in District and Magistrate Courts of Hambantota, Tangalle, Thissamaharama, Walasmulla, and Emblipitiya.
He has worked as the Chairman of Sri Lanka Cement Corporation and Ceylon Cement Company from 2012 – 2015 and was the Chairman of Colombo Commercial Fertilizers Ltd. and Lanka Fertilizer Company in 2006.
He was appointed to Sri Lanka Land Reclamation Corporation (2004 – 2005), NARA Research Institute (1999 - 2002) as a member of the Board of Directors. And also served as a member of the Provincial Public Serve Commission.

Mr. M.P. Premasiri Perera (Member of the National Police Commission)

He obtained Bachelor of Arts degree from the university of Colombo in 1968 and served as a 2-1 Grade teacher from 1970 to 1996. He has served as a Curriculum Developer at the Curriculum Center of the Department of Education during the 1992 – 1996 period and also functioned as a Teacher Instructor.
During the 1993 -1998 period he was elected to the Western Provincial Council and has also served in such public entities as Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation, Sri Lankan Telecom, and Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in different capacities.

Mr.Gunapala Wickramage (Member of the National Police Commission)

Mr. Gunapala Wickramage is a retired officer of Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service Grade II and is a Special Teacher Training Diploma holder. He was a Former Diplomat of Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service. He was appointed to the Ministry of Education as an English Language Teacher in 1977 and has obtained Diploma Certificate in Gemology from the Department of Mining & Mineral Resources of the University of Moratuwa in 1994. He participated in Orientation Programme for Labour Welfare Officers to be placed in the Middle East and Far Eastern Countries in 1998 and He has received the English Trained Teacher Diploma Certificate from English Teacher Training College Mirigama. He has held the position of Assistant Director for English Education at Ratnapura Zonal Education Office in 2004 and Welfare Officer to the Sri Lankan Mission in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during 1999-2001.
In addition, he has held different positions such as Coordinating Secretary to the Deputy Minister of Power and Energy (2010), Personal Assistant to the Deputy Minister of Power and Energy (2010), Media Secretary to the Minister of Rural Industries (2009), Coordinating Officer to the Minister of Power and Energy at the Puttalam Coal Power Project (2007), Coordinating Officer and Public Relations Officer to the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Mahaweli Development (2006), Staff Assistant of Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka ) Limited (1998), Member of the staff of the Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation (1998), Secretary to Member of Parliament of Ratnapura District (1994), a Member of the Staff of a Provincial Member of Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council (1993).

Mr. T.P. Parameswaran (Member of the National Police Commission)

Mr. Parameswaran obtained his L.L.B. Degree from Colombo University and has more than16-year experience as attorney-at- Law and Notary public. He is also trained teacher of science and later he has entered into the Sri Lanka Principal Service and has served more than 19 years. He supported to coordinate motivation program of the Ministry of Education for encouraging school children who were displaced by the Civil Conflict in Chedddikulam -Vakarai in 2009.
